The Significance of CBD

On the Rise

It seems like everywhere you look, products infused with cannabidiol, better known as CBD, are earning high praise throughout the health & wellness industry.

And rightfully so!

Stress relief, pain relief, and better sleep are the most heavily sought-after benefits of adding it to your diet.  Many patients are interested in finding more organic remedies, so, understandably, interest in CBD is rising.

But what if you need to learn more before trying it? Or you haven’t found a product type you like? Or maybe you’re just like us, and you consume CBD daily and need to find something new and fulfilling.

We’re here for you, and we want you to know why we believe in hemp, and what’s in it for you!

So, let’s just start from the top, shall we?

What Is It?

Cannabidiol is a chemical compound found in the cannabis sativa plant. Unlike its cousin THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is NOT psychoactive. It lacks the ability give the "high" feeling.

Applying CBD topically or consuming it as an edible interacts with your body's neuroreceptors in the endocannabinoid system, facilitating the transmission of signals between cells to assist in controlling your immune system, mobility, mood, and homeostasis.

CBD research increases year after year, which is the key to unlocking its full potential.  As of early 2023, there are 202 ongoing or completed scientific trials examining the effectiveness of CBD in humans on such diverse disorders as chronic pain, substance use disorders, anxiety and arthritis.

What Can It Do For Me?

Of course, everyone is different, and it's always wise to research on your own and/or consult your physician, but these studies suggest that there are several ways that CBD oil could benefit you.

We've outlined some here!

Catch some ZZZ's!

Sleep is essential for maintaining your health and wellbeing over the long term. What occurs when you sleep has an impact on how you feel when you wake up.

Your body supports normal brain function and preserves physical health while you sleep.

A comprehensive review's findings indicate that CBD, either by itself or in combination with equivalent amounts of THC, may be helpful in reducing the symptoms of sleeplessness.

In a 2019 study to determine whether CBD helps improve sleep and/or anxiety in a clinical population, 72 people who presented with primary concerns of anxiety or poor sleep made up the final group.

In 57 participants (79.2%), anxiety levels dropped throughout the first month of the research and continued to decline.

In 48 individuals (66.7%), sleep ratings improved over the first month.

Chronic Pain Management

If you know someone who has been severely injured, or suffers from rheumatic conditions like arthritis and Fibromyalgia, or has an autoimmune disease like Lupus or MS, then they've probably talked to you about CBD.

Studies show that it may help reduce chronic "forever" pain by propelling endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation, and increasing neuroprotection.

Offset Anxiety and Depression

CBD’s ability to calm is perhaps its most popular effect and the reason its use is so widespread.

Research has shown promise for CBD oil as a treatment for mood disorders and PTSD leading many people to become interested in this natural approach.

Treatment for Cancer Related Symptoms

More than ever before, people who have been diagnosed with cancer are turning to medical cannabis, both CBD and THC.

Research indicates CBD may have potential for cancer treatment. It addresses symptoms, signs, and pain associated with cancer, including side effects of chemotherapy.

Preclinical research also indicates that CBD could possibly address various cancer development pathways.

Looks like a bright future, and we're glad to be a part of it!

Cadiovascular Health Improvement

High blood pressure is tied an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and peripheral artery disease (PAD), among other illnesses.

According to research, CBD can help expand blood vessels and affect how the heart contracts, which may be advantageous for those with high blood pressure.

For instance, a 2020 project with 26 healthy males discovered that administering 600 mg of CBD for seven days resulted in significantly lower short-term blood pressure, when compared to a placebo group. After seven days, the effect vanished.

Treat Select Epilepsy Syndromes

In some instances, CBD can be used to treat epileptic seizures.

Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers have shown that CBD may reduce the adverse effects associated with anti-seizure medications, and seems to improve other aspects of health and quality of life for patients with epilepsy.

In 2018, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of CBD under the brand name Epidiolex to treat seizures resulting from Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome—two rare forms of epilepsy—in patients at least 2 years old.

Substance Abuse & Relapse Prevention

Drug and alcohol addiction can be life-threatening, and people who misuse them are susceptible to relapse for a variety of reasons, as drug addiction is a chronic, recurrent brain illness.

CBD may be able to help!

Stress sensitivity, context-induced drug seeking, elevated anxiety, and poor impulse control are prominent among affected individuals. Several findings imply that CBD could be useful in addressing certain risk states.

Numerous documented pharmacological advantages of CBD also imply that it is therapeutically helpful for mood swings and the obsessive behavior of drug seekers.

Workout Recovery

CBD can reduce inflammation, which is crucial for successful workout recovery. Inflammation causes stiff, uncomfortable joints and increases the risk of injury, making it a significant issue for many athletes and casual exercise enthusiasts.

CBD oil reduces inflammation and can help reduce pain to ease you into exercises like stretches for sciatica, improving your recovery journey. Because inflammation is related to various health issues, it can massively deter your fitness goals making CBD a beloved supplement for many gymgoers.
